FUN RUN: RUN FOR A GREAT CAUSE AND COST

Posted May 3,2016 • By Communication: Renato and Norlita Liberato

Five o’clock in the morning of April 3, 2016, almost 200 young people, parents and visitors of Western Batangas II District gathered at Lian Batangas Municipal Hall as our preparation and starting point of our fun run with the theme “Takbo para sa Kalusugan”. We started our run; some jog and just walk at about six in the morning with the assistance of some kind-hearted Nasugbu Police officers. This event is not just for fun and running but it focused also to the physical and spiritual health of our brethren and non- SDAs friends. From Lian Municipal Hall to the end point plaza of Nasugbu Batangas the brethren met together, they had given fruits and pamphlets to distribute to our friends near the place. Many of us received negative and positive comments from those whom we approached. One of them says, “I don’t want to exchange my cigarette to a fruit, because I want to die.” But negative comments did not stop the burning desires of our brethren because they know that through this simple act of reminders someday or somehow it’s the God that will perform miracles in the lives of these people as what some of our parishioners experienced too. If there is a bad comments there is also a positive comments from our friends, some says, “thank you for the reminder, kindly continue bringing us hope.” These are just simple yet meaningful words that ignite us to continue serving God. This fun run has a great cause; it is for fun for the brethren that helps them to build stronger relationship to each other, a run for health, distributing pamphlets that serves as an instrument for waking up the sleeping spiritual soul of our friends outside our denomination, and the apples exchanged for cigarettes which means one apple for one’s lives. This ministry does not expect hundreds of people to be baptized but this work prioritizes the simple but meaningful act of giving, sharing, and reminding. It is friendship that matters inside and outside of our churches. This event happened outside our churches but it was designed to build a strong foundation of friendship among our brethren because of what the adage says, “Two heads are better than one.” This program aims unity of our parishioners in working in God’s vineyard, without their support and works our spiritual program will not be success. Evangelism can be done in many ways, and this work of us is just an example of it. We did not baptized anyone but there is a great cost in the heart of our brethren. It is something that no one can explain or imagine how joyous we are because there is an unmeasurable happiness in serving and joining God’s divine ministry. The Holy Spirit of Our Heavenly Father may continually work in the hearts of our parishioners that they may always support and join in every program or activity of our conference, district, and churches.
